Core

Type what you remember — a place, a moment, a relationship — and Recall finds the right person instantly. No need to spell their name correctly. No need to remember their last name at all.

Search #NYC #gallery and see everyone you've tagged with both. The more context you add, the narrower and more precise the result.

The fastest way to tag contacts at scale. Swipe right on a contact in the list to add a hashtag. Works like a card-swipe flow — perfect for processing hundreds of contacts quickly.

The tag keyboard includes autocomplete so you can re-use existing tags without retyping. Swipe left to skip and move on.

Stack multiple hashtags to narrow your search. Type #Tokyo #photographer #2024 and Recall shows only contacts matching all three. The more tags, the more precise the result.

Combine any tags in any order. There's no fixed hierarchy — just your memory.

As you type a hashtag, Recall suggests existing tags from your collection. This keeps tagging consistent — no accidental duplicates like #newyork and #NYC for the same place.

Autocomplete also shows each tag's frequency, so you can see at a glance how widely used a tag is across your contacts.

Power

Every hashtag you create automatically becomes a Smart Group. Tap #NYC and see every contact tagged with it. Groups update in real time as you add and remove tags.

No manual group management ever. Groups are simply a live view of your tags.

Five colour-coded priority tags built in from day one: VIP, Family, Work, Parents, Friends. These appear as prominent chips in the contact list so the people who matter most are always visible at a glance.

Tap any Super Tag chip in the filter bar to instantly show only that group.

From the contact detail view, Quick Recall surfaces the most relevant actions in one tap: Call, FaceTime, FaceTime Audio, Message, WhatsApp, Email, and Share Contact (vCard).

No nested menus. No hunting. The right action is always one tap away.

A swipe-through interface for reviewing old or untagged contacts. Swipe right to tag. Swipe left to skip. Swipe up to delete. The fastest way to clean up an address book that's accumulated years of forgotten contacts.

See who you were in touch with most recently. Sort your contact list by recency to keep your active relationships at the top. Your native iPhone contacts app can't do this. Recall can.

Share any contact as a standard vCard directly from the detail view. Works with all iOS share destinations — AirDrop, Messages, WhatsApp, email, and more. One tap to pass contact details to someone else.

Modes

Attach your children's names to their school parent contacts. Tag a contact #mum #Luca #Ella and search #Luca to find that child's parent instantly.

Designed for parents who know every child at school pickup but struggle to remember the parent's name. You know the child — Recall connects you to the contact.

Just like Parent Mode, but for dog owners. Attach your dog's name (and theirs) to contacts you meet at the park, at puppy class, or at the vet. Search #Biscuit to find the owner of that labrador you met at the dog park last month.

Because you always remember the dog's name first.

Compose a message once, then send it to a Smart Group in one action. Filter to #WorkLondon, write your lunch invite, and Recall generates the list of contacts ready to copy-paste into any messaging app.

Perfect for organising events, sending group updates, or reaching out to everyone from a particular context — without creating a group chat.

Experience

Dark Mode — the default. Black background, white text, high contrast. Built for low-light environments and extended use.

iOS Native Mode — adapts to your system Light or Dark setting. Standard iOS colours, feels immediately familiar.

Paper Mode — warm off-white, low contrast, reduced motion. The calm alternative. Designed for dyslexic and light-sensitive users who find stark interfaces tiring.

All text in Recall scales with the font size you set in iOS Settings → Display & Brightness → Text Size. Includes full support for Accessibility extra-large sizes. Users who depend on large text can use Recall without losing any functionality.

No account. No email. No cloud. No contacts data ever leaves your device. Recall never connects to any external server with your personal information.

Tags are stored locally and also written to the Apple Contacts notes field — so they sync via iCloud if you choose to use it, entirely on your terms. Delete the app and your tags remain in Apple Contacts.

Recall runs natively on Mac via Mac Catalyst (macOS 12+) and on iPad (iPadOS 15+). The Mac version supports full keyboard navigation and takes advantage of the larger screen for the contact list layout.

One purchase (free) across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
